My Approach
A piece of advice that I offer all of the engaged couples that I meet with is: If you don't like me...don't hire me. This is a good ice breaker, but more importantly it helps illustrate my approach to photography. The majority of people don't like to be photographed, so they need to, at a minimum, like the person behind the camera. You can hire the most talented photographer in the world, but if you don't like them or feel comfortable with them, it'll show in your portraits. I believe that my job is to capture moments in people's lives (big or small) that otherwise would have been missed or lost. And the "real" moments are captured when people feel comfortable and forget about the camera.
The Story Behind J. Fiereck Photography
After photographing my best friend's wedding seven years ago, I decided to turn a hobby into a career and continue a family tradition. I share my passion for photography with my aunt, who is a photographer and owner of a portrait studio in North Carolina. In 2003, my husband and I moved to North Carolina to work at my aunt's studio. In 2006, we moved back to Connecticut and founded J. Fiereck Photography.
